Wordpress 1.5.1.3 is in da house!

There was a security vulnerability that required some minor updates so I upgraded just to be safe. Everything seems to working so onward! :)

Whew!

Just to let you all know that I’m not dead. The reason that I’ve been so busy lately is because of my decision to take another compressed semester class this summer. This summer I am experiencing the ‘joy’ of CIS 528 which is basically an advanced course in databases and database administration with some net fusion and web development stuff thrown in so the can technically refer to this as a course in web application development. At any rate the course is at least interesting and the professor that was is teaching knows his stuff and if the homework was not so damn time consuming I would actually enjoy dragging me ass out of bed so early in the morning and slogging through another day in class so I can then get a quick lunch thrown into my gullet than racing off to another shift on the phones. :P I shouldn’t really bitch as I choose to do this to myself and the class is only for a few more weeks so not all is lost but what fun is that?

The last few weeks have been fairly interesting, I have seen Batman Begins and The Longest Yard (again), had coffee with some friends, helped my friend April move into her new apartment, and my dad suddenly had a midlife crisis and bought a 1997 Mustang V8 convertible! I doubt I will ever get to drive it as I’m sure my touching it increases my premiums even higher than they already are, but its a beautiful red color and in it looks like it just rolled out of the factory. :P

In regards to the coffee I met Emily and Jason from Andy’s wedding out at Barnes & Noble and then we went to see the longest yard as they had seen everything else, it was nice to see them again, especially Emily, but I learned that she got her grad position up at Wash U and will be moving back to St. Louis shortly. Just my luck isn’t it? I seem to always be to early or to late in my relationships, she is the first girl that i have been interested in almost a year and I had hopes of maybe getting to know her better. I can see that is probably not going to happen for awhile if ever because I do not want a long distance relationship unless I just can not avoid it. At least I can count her as a friend and who knows what might happen but damnit I am fed up with being single and i would love to start dating again if i could only find some interesting girls who will actually stay in town. :P

In other news, it looks like Eric and I may have finally found a place to live, I am going to take my parents on a tour to ease their concerns, the place is pretty sweet IMO, 3 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths. It comes with a fridge, stove, and a dishwasher. the only utility that we will have to pay is electricity as cable TV, DSL access, water, sewer, and trash come with the $600 a month rent (only $200 for yours truly and we will split the land line and power 3 ways so this is totally doable). We are hoping to move on this soon as their is an opening and Eric loses his lease July 31. I will write more about this as it develops but I am hoping to start living on my own finally at long last. Other than that I pretty much go to class and work and come home and study PL/SQL queries, play a little more WoW and sleep when I remember. This summer has been pretty good for once and if I can make it through August 15th. I think I will be doing pretty damn well. Till then I’m going to go study for my midterm and maybe watch some more episodes of Firefly that Matthew and I bought on impulse at Best Buy last night. Its a cool looking space western that Fox dropped the ball on and canceled. they are supposed to have a movie and the Sci-Fi Channel bought the rights to it so maybe they will make more episodes. :P

Andy’s Big Day

It’s been a few days since I got back from Andy and Crystal’s wedding and I have had time to collect my thoughts on it but unfortunately there are no pictures yet but I promise to get them up as soon as I can get ahold of them or the DVD of the wedding and reception that the DJ is supposed to be making (he had enough shiny tech toys to make me jealous :P). How did the weekend go your probably wondering, well, it was fantastic and everything went off without a hitch( as far as Andy and Crystal know ;))! Emily, Jason, and myself all worked our asses off to make sure that everything went along smoothly as possible to keep everyone from freaking out too much.

I left town Thursday evening after I got off my shift at work and Andy picked Jason and I up and we headed out to Pilot Grove. The drive up was uneventful and we got up there sometime after dark and we hung out with everyone at Crystal’s parents house till about 2am i think then Andy, Jason, and myself all spent the night in the RV that was parked alongside the house and we tried to get some sleep because the next day was going to be busy as we finished the final preparations for the wedding.

Almost all of the next day was consumed with decorating the church for the wedding (they only had one by the way . . . ) as well as the Community Center for the reception and dinner to follow. We all worked at a pretty frenzied pace until about 9pm. Then all of the Groomsmen and myself kidnapped Andy for a redo of his Bachelor Party that I had tried to throw the week before. We told his parents that we were going to the ‘casino’ (the actually have one as well as a 24/7 wally world but that is a story for another day) in Boonsville but our eventual destination would be Columbia. We headed that direction but we quickly made a detour and drove Andy to an adult store that one of the Groomsman’s brother-in-law was a manager and could score us 40% off. The reason that we did this besides for the sake of modern tradition was to embarrass him just a little but mainly to shoe him something that he had never experienced before. I think it went well and he picked out some interesting gifts that I hope they are using on their Honeymoon. After that we headed to Columbia and we got their around 1am only to discover that is when all the bars close! We were not prepared for that because the bars around her close after 2am! So I decided that we would stop by a gas station or something and continue the party at Andy’s new place, little did we know that between 1:30 until 2am every single gas station in the town gets a beer run rush . . . but we finally manged to pick up a few cases and headed back to Andy’s were we had a good time hanging out and playing poker (I had ‘fun’ getting taken by Andy of course, he has one hell of a poker face ;)).

The next morning we didn’t wake up exactly when we wanted but the wedding wasn’t until 3 so we were OK. We ate at an A&W (wh00t for root Beer Floats!) and then to Wally World to purchase a shower curtain and whatnot for the new place and so all 6 of us could shower and clean up a bit after the previous night’s festivities ;). After that it was time to haul ass over to the church to get into our monkey suits and to get ready for the Wedding! The actual ceremony itself went perfectly if a little late and then I suckered Andy out of his car and moved it to a hidden location until we ‘decorated’ it for their Honeymoon. I had a great time at the dinner and reception and I even got to dance with Crystal for awhile so she could thank me for helping to make things happen for them. Let me tell you a little about how she looked, I have one word for you . . . STUNNING and watching her and Andy dance I got a little emotional myself as I have been lonely and single for quite a bit now and I caught myself wondering if I would ever find love or happiness again but I manged to shake that off and get back to having a good time (I hope i can have a stunning bride one of these days soon though as I’m getting ‘old’ now and I have been wanting to settle down for awhile now. The only hard part for me at the reception was the cake cutting ceremony where I had to make a speech (NOOOO!!!) but managed to get into my ’speech mode’ and I think I pulled it off well but i don’t think most people heard me as the DJ forgot to turn down the music, I don’t really care because the two people who it was for liked it and thats all that matter in the long run.

One of the bigger thrills of the evening was when I got to dance with Crystal’s friend, Emily. They were study partners last semester as they finished up some extremely difficult final Microbiology classes that they had to pass. So I was often invited along when they would take study breaks and I’m not sure why but Emily kind of caught my eye the first time I saw her. She is a cute and rather curvy brunette and shes extremely intelligent but is a bit of a party girl when she cuts loose. I found myself staring at her (especially when she walked, I have a thing for legs and asses *shrug*) over the weekend when I thought no one was looking. I’m not sure if she noticed and I don’t particularly care as we were the only two single people in the wedding party and since she was the impromptu Wedding Planner and I was the Best Man we pretty much spend every waking moment together working out the details and snags that happened and in my opinion we have always gotten along really well and she did not seem opposed to spending all that time with me. :) So I was tickled pink when I got the chance to dance with her and had she seemed extremely surprised at how fast i could spin her around the dance floor and kept laughing and shouting wow! I have her cell number now and an invitation to hang out whenever she or I are bored and need to get out so maybe I can get a few dates in and see if anything develops. Who knows what will happen in the future, but I’m not the central figure in this tale so back to Andy. ;)

The dollar dance went off fantastic and after that the homemade wine and mint julep came out and everyone started to really have fun. The wedding party manged to sneak off and saran wrap Andy’s car doors and the whipped cream and prophylactics were out in force as well! :D For the rest of the reception I schmoozed and drank a little when I wasn’t dancing and probably acting pretty foolish but here it is a wedding after all! :P After we saw the couple off to finish packing for their plane flight out and their Honeymoon in the Caribbean and we had helped cleaning up the community Center Jason and I hitched a ride back to Crystal’s parents place with Emily and I don’t know if I am interrupting this right but when we got back Jason and I put our stuff back into the RV and then I headed inside to answer the call of nature and I was talking to Emily some more as I really wasn’t very tired and Emily kept mentioning that it looked like the kids who had been sleeping in the house were not staying and that Jason and I could stay in the house. I may be totally off on this but I swear it seemed like she was trying to talk me into it and not Jason as he was outside still at this point (and she had her own room that night). I guess I will never know if she was trying to be polite or if maybe the drinks we had consumed were talking somewhat as Crystal’s parents as well drove up at that point. all I could do then was smile, wave, and wink at her as I headed back to the RV to get some sleep.

The next morning we all woke up and headed back to Springfield and parted ways with Jason and alas Emily (I don’t know if I’m just desperate or I have some sort of crush on her but oh well lol).

that’s all that I have at this point but when I get photos and whatnot I will put them up as I looked damn good in that monkey suit I think. I might also be temporally hosting all of the multimedia stuff from the wedding so everyone has on place to get to get their own copy but that will happen sometime after Andy and Crystal’s honeymoon so that’s all for now. Take care and until next time!

For the recrod . . .

I would just like to state that working TWO full time jobs at any time freaking sucks! This isn’t the first time I have done this during the summer, but I must be getting old because I just can’t wake up in the morning without hitting the snooze tons and now I have 3 or more alarms set around my room that go off at different times so I HAVE to get my butt out of bed to make them stop. Oh well it will be worth it when I have my own place in a little while!

Yet another test

Trying to figure out these dang 406 errors when running mod_security and WordPress so ignore this please.

Andy’s Big Day Approaches

Well, today I go and pick up my monkey suit :P and then head to work. Afterwords I race him to grab my stuff before Andy and I head to Pilot Grove (map). I will let you know how it all went and maybe post some photos. Catch ya later. ;)

Summer of Code

I wish I had some more free time this summer to participate in a niffty new program from the folks over at Google. All hail the Google Overloard Masters! ;)
