What every web developer should know about building the next Digg or Flickr - a condensed version of lessons learned from the Future of Web Apps Summit in San Francisco earlier this month.
As a Web Application developer I found this to be a very good read.
Text-Link-Ads has released their advertising service for RSS feeds called Feedvertising. I am a proponent of Text-Link-Ads and their Feedvertising programs makes it easier for bloggers (especially those that use Wordpress) to display ads in their RSS feeds. Now you can offer ads from advertisers and also reserve spots to highlight your own links and sites.
I do not like having to place ads on my site at all but I do have to pay over $200 a month to pay for my server and bandwidth. TLA makes it very easy to implement their service via a Wordpress Plugin and they allow you to have total control over the ads that are displayed. I would rather offer ads from my readers, such as Paul Stamatiou has started to offer, but I doubt that I have the have enough readers (30 at the time of this writing according to Feedburner) to justify that. At any rate I will keep working with TLA and Adsense in hopes of finding some way to help fund my expenses. Go give Feedvertising a look.
Also. if you are interested in placing a text ad on my site have a look at this page.
Scott Sigler’s new podcast novel, The Rookie, is now available for you to listen to. Sigler also has some other podcast novels that you can listen to, and of course purchase. If you are interested here is the description of the novel from its homepage.
The Rookie is a summer blockbuster podcast novel by Scott Sigler, author of EarthCore, Ancestor and Infection.
Imagine a story that combines the intense football action of “Any Given Sunday with the space opera style of “Star Wars and the criminal underworld of “The Godfather.
“The Rookie is set amongst a lethal pro football league 700 years in the future. Aliens play positions based on physiology, creating receivers that jump 25 feet into the air, linemen that bench-press 1,200 pounds, and linebackers that - literally - want to eat you. Organized crime runs every franchise, games are fixed and rival players are assasinated.
Follow the story of Quentin Barnes, a 19-year-old quarterback prodigy that has been raised all his life to hate, and kill, those aliens. Quentin must deal with his racism and learn to lead, or he’ll wind up just another stat in the column marked “killed on the field.
The other novels are:
Earthcore
Ancestor
Infection
