Why does PHP 5 on mediatemple’s deadicated virtual (dv) server hate me?
Has anyone been able to get this working on the 3.0 version? Every time I try to follow their KB article it never works, when I restart Apache my default page for this site changes to the default place holder for apache/cantos.
Am I just retarded and I’m missing something really simple or is the KB article wrong.?Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. I have tried this upgrade several different times and Ireally need PHP 5 running in order to work on some projects and mt support people have for once been unable to assist me with this issue. I always either have to roll the serveer back or delete my vhosts.conf file. Grr . . .
University of Nebraska Will Bill RIAA $11 For Each Threatening Letter
“Basically the RIAA wants all of the colleges to do their dirty work, saving them money and giving them more time to just find the ‘general area’ where these music pirates may be. Nebraska realizes the follies in this attempt and tries to get the RIAA to at least reimburse them, as the search was conducted with tax payers dollars…..”
LOL that is hilarious! It looks like the RIAA may finally get some flak from a university that is not willing to just roll over and do whatever they want for fear of getting a potential lawsuit. Do you have any thoughts on the RIAA’s tactic of threating entire universities? I’m against it myself but I am against all censorship and thingk all information should be free . . . but that is just me.

Time Inc. to end LIFE magazine but keep it online
“Time Inc. said on Monday that it will stop publishing LIFE, the iconic photography magazine that has been featured as a weekly newspaper insert since 2004.”
It looks like April 20th. is the last time you will ever be able to pick up a print copy of this magazine. I’ve grown up with Time LIFE and I never thought about it ending its preint run. It does appear that Time magazine will still continue its print runs. I guess the decline in people subscribing to newspapers has had an effect on the sales of LIFE. Do you read your news in print or online only, or both? I read all of mine via RSS if I can get it but I would like to see what others do.

Apple posts NSA-approved Tiger security configuration guides
Apple Tiger security guide: “If you do enable the text to speech feature, use headphones to keep others from overhearing your computer.”
Attention paranoid security conscious OS X users, here is an ultimate guide to securing your Mac. I guess if it is good for the NSA it must be good for the average home user.
This was a very geeky and yet interesting read but I don’t think I would use a lot of these for home use at least. Anyone have any thoughts on the state of Mac security?
