Just a quick FYI for anyone out there who hasn’t read this story yet. The WordPress developers had released version 2.0.6 of their successful software today. Matt says that this version is “a pretty important release” and he want everyone to upgrade as quickly as possible. The main updates in this version are:
* The aforementioned security fixes.
* HTML quicktags now work in Safari browsers.
* Comments are filtered to prevent them from messing up your blog layout.
* Compatibility with PHP/FastCGI setups.
This release also invludes a new anti-XSS (Cross Site Scripting) function called attribute_escape() and a brand new filter called “query which will allow filtering of any SQL queries at runtime. These last two additions are mainly for developers but I am glad to see that they are working on security as quickly as vunerabilities are discovered. I have already update my copy and everything seems to be functioning. Please let me know if anything is broken. In the next couple of days I will also be making a much longer post about an exciting development in my personal life, so stay tuned.
